What are the benefits of choosing out-of-network care when I have insurance?2024-10-08T18:35:16+00:00

Potential Reasons for Choosing Out-of-Network Care:

  • High Deductibles: Many people have high deductibles before their insurance begins covering costs and may be unaware of the charges associated with outpatient services which can add up.  I will share fees for the evaluation and treatments upfront and can provide a superbill to submit for potential reimbursement.
  • Insurance Exclusions for Preventative Care: Insurance often does not cover preventive services. For example, some pregnant clients seek guidance for labor preparation and postpartum recovery.  While insurance may not cover preventive care, it’s a vital part of maintaining overall health and supports better outcomes.
  • Limited Coverage for Certain Diagnoses: Not all diagnoses are covered by insurance. A cash-based practice allows for the freedom to treat all Women’s Health and Pelvic Health diagnosis.  Although it’s possible to work with insurance for reimbursement, this demonstrates how insurance policies can impact the type and extent of care provided.
  • Restrictions on Treatment and Session Limits: Insurance companies often determine the number of covered sessions and set specific treatment parameters based on the diagnostic code. I focus on providing the most effective treatment methods based on your unique needs and progress. This means that session intervals can vary based on your symptoms, and you have the flexibility to return as needed.  Clients can attend regular scheduled sessions to fully address their needs, as well as return briefly for tune ups.
Do you take insurance & what questions should I ask my health insurance company?2024-10-08T02:59:54+00:00

I operate as an out-of-network provider and do not handle insurance claims directly. However, I can provide superbills that you may submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. These superbills include diagnostic codes and an itemized receipt of services, making it easier for you to self-file.

I encourage you to reach out to your insurance provider so you have a clear understanding of your healthcare benefits. Below are some helpful questions to ask:

  • Do I need pre-authorization before my first visit?
  • Is a referral required from my physician, primary care doctor, or specialist for reimbursement?
  • What is my deductible, and how much of it has been met? What percentage of reimbursement does my plan allow?
  • Is there a difference in reimbursement if I see an out-of-network provider?
  • Is there a cap on the number of visits or the total amount covered annually?
  • What is the process for submitting superbills, and is there a specific form I need to use?

If you plan to submit claims, please be sure to ask these questions before your first appointment and confirm the correct mailing address or fax number for sending claims.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?2024-10-08T03:09:20+00:00

You do not need a referral for Physical Therapy.  The state of Michigan has direct access which allows me to work with you for 10 visits or 21 days, whichever comes first.  After that time, you will need a physician prescription to continue treatment.  However, I am happy to communicate with an overseeing physician or members of your care team at any time.  With your consent, I can fax reports to your providers, and discuss your care to ensure the best outcome.

Can I pay for services using my FSA or HSA account?2024-10-05T18:19:47+00:00

Yes, you can use your flexible spending (FSA) or health savings account (HSA) for payment. You also have the option to securely store your credit card at the time of booking or pay by cash or personal check.
